8 levels of Giving

From "My Grandfather's Blessings" By Rachel Remen.

At the eight and most basic level of giving to others, a man begrudgingly buys a coat for a shivering man who has asked for help, gives it to him in the presence of witnesses, and waits to be thanked.
At the seventh level, a man does this same thing without waiting to be asked for help.
At the sixth level, a man does this same thing open-heartedly without waiting to be asked for help.
At the fifth level, a man open-heartedly gives a coat, that he has bought, to another but does so in private.
At the fourth level, a man open-heartedly and privately give his own coat to another, rather than a coat that he has bought.
At the third level, a man open-heartedly gives his own coat to another who does not know who has given him this gift. But the man himself knows the the person who is indebted to him.
At the second level, he open-heartedly gives his own coat to another and has no idea who has received it. But the man who receives it know to whom he is indebted.
And finally, on the first and purest level of giving to others, a man open-heartedly give his own coat away without knowing who will receive it, and he who receives it does not know who has given it to him. Then giving becomes a natural expression of the goodness in us, and we give as simply as flowers breathe out their perfume. ........ 'Suppose we all gave to those around us as the first man does, begrudgingly offering a coat we have bought in the presence of witnesses to someone who has need and who asks us for help? If we all did this, would there be more or less suffering in the world than there is now?'
I thought for a long time, the need to get it right battling in me with the simplicity of my grandfather's question. 'Less suffering, Grandpa,' I said finally in some confusion. 'Ah yes,' he said, beaming, 'this is true. Some things have so much goodness in them that they are worth doing any way that you can.' Unquestionably there are ways of giving that may diminish others, stripping them of their dignity and self-worth. We can learn to give without taking something away, and often we may learn as we go. But according to my grandfather, it is better to bless life badly than not to bless it at all."

What should i blog about today....

So I haven't blogged in a bit, mostly because I am kinda lazy, but really because I have had nothing to blog about. You know I have a new job...which is sweet! You know I have a new calling in my ward....FHE has actually been really fun. Something you probably don't know is that I am back to square one on dating...What is before square 1? Because I think I am there. I have adopted the new mantra: The goal is not to wait for the right person but to be the right person.
The only problem with that is that I have found the right person...but I just don't know how to make them realize that I am. Advice on getting the man of your dreams...when you don't have pretty much any contact with them? We were going to the same ward years ago, and then a mission, Africa, school, work, moving...and all those things have gotten in the way....I have seen him a few times...but not often enough to feel like I could ask him out....I am working to get to that point. But any ideas would also be welcomed. Anyway.....
So I have been thinking about how awesome this summer is going to be. I am pretty sure I will be working one job...I will have less money, but it will give me more time and i will be happier. I have been thinking about things I want to do with my time and as you know I am all for volunteering....Here are some things I am thinking about doing, service wise, for fun this summer and other things I am thinking about.
This is going to be an exciting summer. I can feel it!

Selling!

So I went Feather Head Band Crazy...we were watching the 10 commandments on TV, which is like seven million hours long, so I made some more head bands....Here they are!

My beautiful model is my sister Bee, and I modeled some of them too. So why did I make these? Normally I make headbands for fundraisers, presents, and auctions...but I have decided to sell theses....my older sister April, who I started making these for for Christmas, has had some friends request them...so I am selling them! I am not sure of the prices yet, I am thinking $5 for the small ones and $10-12 for the bigger ones, and like $15 for the really fancy ones (like the white metal one). So if you want one let me know! Email me at leahjones.lee@gmail.com...They would be great for prom...and they are so cute to wear with anything!

Update! Woot Woot

So as many of you know from my Facebook up dates...I just finished reading "The Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" by Suzanne Collins. If you have not read them I suggest that you call me and get my copy of them, or go to the library or really just go buy them, because honestly you are going to need them after you read them....I had a friend at work lend me "The Hunger Games" and I read it all that night and then the next day after work I went and bought it and the 2nd book. I would feel incomplete without them. I also got Bee hooked on them, and now I am not suffering alone, having to wait till Aug. 8th for the 3rd and final book to come out.

Holy Cow, so good read them read them read them! And then tell me what you think! :)

Also....I got a new job! Oh so very happy!
It is a job that I really want and have wanted for a long time....I am now the personal assistant to Kathy Headlee, the founder and CEO of Mothers Without Borders. Yeppie! I started today. I work from 9am to 1pm and then I book it to my other job, and work there until 7pm (we will see how long that lasts)......

So who even knows about this blog

So I was talking to my sister the other day...and she didn't even know that had this new blog. We were talking about her blog...well about her birthday and how she doesn't have any pictures of her last birthday....and she posted that on her blog and I read it...and she was amazed.
"You read my Blog",
"why yes I do, if you go to my blog there is actually a link to your blog"
" Oh really?! I didn't know that, I haven't been to your blog since you go back from Africa"
"Well I started a new blog"
"Really? I didn't even know you had a new blog"
"Sigh, I do. You should read it sometime."
So hopefully she will come read this a feel bad! Ha ha ha.
Anyway I was going to say something profound in this blog post, but I forgot what it was....
Hmmm, I will think about it.

Ha ha! I remember...well kinda, I have something else to say.

I got a new calling....I am now the co-chair for the FHE council.
I have mixed feelings about this. I never have really gone to FHE, because I am not the biggest fan...I live with my family, so family night is spent, well with my family. But I know the Lord is testing me, hee hee....So pray for me, (whoever reads this).

So this is going to be a random blog post....
But I have also decided that I love, love, love Hockey! I got hooked on it about 2ish years ago when Dani was dating Clayton, they are now married, but Clayton played on a team and I would go with Dani to watch...Then I became friends with Paul another guy on the team, he was also in the singles ward...He is now my one link to hockey...so I am not just a creeper who goes to random games...but I love it. Who watched the US, Canada game yesterday!? Oh I did! Amazing, too bad the US lost, but what a come back, eh, 25 seconds left in the game and they tied it up. Sweet! I love the Olympics...sad that they are over.

Also Tom and Brody have found my celebrity look alike...Well really Nicole found it first....we watched the movie "The Baxter" like 4 months ago and Brody, Tom's best friend went and saw "Shutter Island"...and apparently I look just like Michelle Williams.

She was engaged to Heath Ledger, they have a daughter together.

So you make the call.....
Does it look like me?

I know random Post but just my random thoughts from today....
Oh and some of you who read this, might be thinking who is Tom and Brody?

Tom is a dude that I am causally dating...I think...I don't know. He is a really awesome dude, that I really like. And Brody is his best friend.

So there you go. A glimpse into the mind of Leah Jones.
